That Tie for Men

Corporate Fashionista Ties

A tie is essential for completing your corporate look. It's the first thing people notice. Whether its everyday at the office, attending an interview or a power meeting with the organizations executives.

What are the options do men have when it comes to a tie?

Most men believe it's 'just a tie, why should it matter?' however, wearing a tie to work completes your attire.

What's trending ?

Slim Ties? Fat Ties? Bow Ties? Patterns? Pastels?

Slim Ties

The general rule for the width of your tie is that it should be chosen according to your size and should be as wide as the lapel of the suit you are wearing. While this is a rule, some rule can be broken. Guys, FAT ties are no longer fashionable in 2016 and definitely not in 2017.

We note that some men frame maybe bigger than others so slim ties may look awkward, in this regard big framed guys can wear ties a little bigger than the slim fitted ties, but not too big. Good width for a modern tie is two and a quarter to two and three quarters.

Slim ties make a well tailored suit or your slim fitted shirt stand out.

CorporateFashionistaTT approves of slim ties however, be mindful how skinny is your tie.

Style and colour

Guys, guys, guys don't just put on any random tie, ensure your tie matches your shirt or suit.
Some pastel solids

Pastels, navy, purples, black and grey are recommended
colours. Don't be afraid of the patterned and stripe ties.

Avoid wearing ties obscene images as these are distasteful even at personal functions.

Classy Manchester United Ties

Football fans? These ties can be appropriate  for the office if the team's logo is not glaring. I would not recommend that this style of tie is worn to an interview as it maybe come distracting (negatively or positively) to the interviewing panel.

Business Casual Bow Ties

Bow Ties

Unless you are wearing a tux to a formal event or employed in the creative industry , it is not recommend to wear a bow tie to the office unless it maybe a corporate function such as a staff party or casual business function.

How to tie a tie

Men please learn how to tie your tie. There are easily and accessible videos on You Tube that shows you how to tie a tie. Here are some quick tips.

  • Ensure the wider end of the tie rests on your belt buckle
  • The narrow part of the tie should be at the back and should NEVER be longer than the wider end which is the front.
  • Be cautious of of the size of the knot. Not too small or big, small knot looks weird whilst big knots appears untidy.
